An Idea that became Vivaan Solar 1

An Idea

The idea to establish Vivaan Solar was spearheaded by Mr.Amit Bansal, and Mr. Mudit Garg. After gathering years of work experience both of them being friends and alumnus from VTU Karnataka and even sharing a common passion in entrepreneurship; stepped together to focus on their passion and followed it up by setting up the company. The company took shape around the same time when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (2004-2014) launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (also called National Solar Mission). The idea behind launching the initiative was to promote ecologically sustainable growth using solar power and produce 100 GW of power using the same by 2022 in India. Sensing an opportunity for growth on the same lines, Vivaan Solar was setup almost exclusively to tap the enormous potential of renewable energy business in India. After tossing around with the idea, the company Vivaan Solar was registered in 2010, but eventual operations of the company started in 2012 only.

As with other new concepts that take time to be accepted, the concept of solar power business being entirely in the region, Vivaan Solar encountered many obstructions while executing the project. Not just paper work, but procurement, execution of civil work, bureaucracy, compliance issues cropped up repeatedly; but eventually Mr.Amit Bansal, and Mr. Mudit Garg, both currently directors in the company; took it upon themselves to make sure that all matters are resolved and the project was completed and brought online on time. Their sheer determination and hard work meant that Vivaan Solar not just secured the best vendors, but also gathered some renowned customers of the region who were ready to buy electricity from the project. After that it has been a ‘no stopping’ journey for Vivaan Solar which has now setup or is in the process to setup several solar power projects across India.

Vivaan Solar, a sister concern of Banco Group whose mainstay has been renewable power with solar energy and hydropower projects for more than four decades; is headquartered in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, with branches in Haridwar and Delhi. The company employs nearly 40 young and dynamic professionals who share the same passion to offer benefits of renewable energy and its now one of the best solar epc companies in India.

As of today we have a total installed capacity of nearly 60 MW (0.06 GW) of solar parks across Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Uttrakhand. More solar projects are in pipeline in Maharashtra and Karnataka. In April 2015, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) accredited us as a channel partner for rooftop solar installation company in India. The company was established to build and deploy solar power stations/solar parks right from conception stage at the start to the commission stage at the end.

Projects Executed

Vivaan Solar has signed a variety of commercial agreements with various state governments of India to set up solar power plants in their states. Vivaan Solar started off by setting up a 3 MW Kadodiya Solar Park in Aug 2012, near Tarana town in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh and commissioning it by May 2013. The Kadodiya Solar Park spread over 300 acres is meeting much of the requirement of not just the Tarana town but also the electricity requirement of Deen Dayal Mall and Hotel Usha Kiran Palace in Gwalior. The power generated from the solar plant installation also meets the energy requirement of ITM University, Gwalior and many more industries near Gwalior. The power generation capacity has been increased to 35 MW and another 10 MW is expected to be added in a phased manner pretty soon. Ample government support has prompted the company to set an ambitious target of reaching 200 MW in solar power installations across India by 2017. Some of the successfully executed solar powered projects including commercial projects & solar parks are:

Vivaan Solar wants to harness its considerable expertise in installing rooftop and ground mounted solar power installations that not only find application on commercial basis for industries and housing projects but also for personal use in individual homes. We have also installed solar powered water pumping and lighting solutions for irrigation purpose. For Vivaan Solar quality is of utmost priority and the company believes in offering timely and qualitative support for execution of solar/renewable energy projects in India. Our motto is “Own your own solar plant without hassles”.

Innovation

Vivaan Solar has introduced certain eco-friendly innovations at its solar plant installation, to not only reduce costs but also generate additional revenues on the sidelines of the solar power park. Innovations like a rainwater harvesting reservoir has been built at the Ujjain Solar Park to harvest the rain water on regular basis. The duely harvested rain water is meant to be used for cleaning of the Photovoltaic panels for the entire year. Apart from this farming of Jatropha plant at the periphery fence of Ujjain Solar park has also been started. Jatropha curcas or Barbados Nut, a Jatropha variety is a plant that grows well in semi-arid/arid/wasteland regions. The seeds of this plant contains’ oil that can be used effectively as biodiesel; thus giving an option for alternative source of energy and revenue. We are also planning to start organic farming around the Karodiya Solar Park, with water meant for cleaning the solar panels collected using the rain water harvesting process to be ultimately used for organic farming purpose.

CSR Initiatives

Since solar power can come in handy to remove poverty, provide electricity and cut pollution for poor people in far flung areas; we have recently set up the Vivaan Solar Foundation to carry out Corporate Social Responsibility activities that will help bring about change in the lives of poor people in the villages, who did not access to such things before.
